I hope you have been doing well.

I wanted to let you know that I am REALLY enjoying my masonry heater this year. Now that my wood is seasoned, I am getting wonderfully clean burning and heat. I haven't fired my furnace yet (though I leave the fan running on low all the time), and the fire brick and glass are always clean. It's much more satisfying with seasoned wood.

I have a quick question for you. Is there any value in cutting a few openings into the walls that surround the stainless steel chimney. As you may recall, the chimney runs through the bedroom level and then a finished loft before going through the roof. If I cut a couple of holes on the bedroom level (and cover with grills), will I get any heat? Conversely, if I haven't run the heater for a weekend, will I get much cold air?

Thanks, Norbert.
